Jean Carzou

born in Aleppo in 1907, and died in Dordogne on August 12, 2000, painter of Armenian origin.

 

His brilliant results at the French Lycée in Cairo earned him a scholarship from the Armenian community with which he went to Paris and became student in the Special School of Architecture. He graduated in 1928.

 

After having freely frequented the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, he was exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne. The galleries organize specific exhibitions for him in Paris and abroad.

 

 He also took part in several official exhibitions organized by France outside Europe, and received the prestigious Hallmark Prize three times, as well as the public price for painters who witnessed their time in 1953. He also did many stage sets.

 

 He entered the Academy of Fine Arts and is known to be the slayer of modern painting.

 

He died at the age of ninety-three.
