With At the Edge, the artist delivers a work of striking restraint, where every line seems to explore a threshold—between shadow and light, wild nature and open space, silence and memory. This etching presents a modestly constructed rural landscape, in which a sunken path cuts through a dense woodland before escaping toward an open horizon, marked by the fragile silhouette of a solitary windmill.

The composition skillfully plays with spatial tensions: the dark mass of forest on the left is balanced by the luminous openness of the plain to the right. This gradual shift from shadow into light does not rely on dramatic effect, but on a carefully controlled, almost musical progression. The graphic treatment—dry, incisive, at times scratched—lends an almost tactile density to the vegetation, while the sky, barely sketched, breathes through clear and silent stretches.

This work belongs to the tradition of contemplative printmaking, in the lineage of early 20th-century landscape etchers, where space becomes a terrain of the mind.
