/// The Flying Dutchman ///
The Flying Dutchman, sometimes referred to in the past as the "Dutch Voltigeur", is the most famous of the ghost ships. This myth has often been used by writers in adventure stories. It is also known by the German name "Der Fliegende Holländer", the latter being the original title of an opera by Richard Wagner.
/// Jean-Pierre MARCHADOUR ///
born May 25, 1940 in Montreuil-sous-Bois to parents who were teachers. He spent most of his childhood in Haute Savoie. At the age of 16, he left secondary education to join the École des Arts-Décoratifs in Grenoble, where he stayed for three years. Then he moved to Paris to further his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in the “engraving” section. With his diploma in hand, he continues to attend the workshop assiduously as a non-registered student. It was there in 1967 that he met a young student, Catherine, who would become his wife. For more than half a century they formed a couple of artists with the same name, but whose work was different. He will be a teacher at the Beaux-Arts and at Paris I Saint-Charles.
A designer and engraver recognized in his field, he also worked on retouched photographs and invented the typist with a typewriter. It adds electricity and will make it more complex over time while adding more and more ribbons of color until large abstract compositions are created. its goal being not so much to write as to strike the paper with its machines creating repeated and imperfect frames.
