Biography:
FKDL (Franck Duval), born in Paris in 1963, is a prominent French street artist known for his urban collage work, blending vintage imagery, stylized silhouettes, and found paper. A former fashion designer, he turned to visual art in the 1990s and began placing his distinctive collages on the walls of Paris in the early 2000s, quickly gaining recognition for his unique aesthetic.
FKDL explores themes of collective memory using press clippings, old advertisements, and images from magazines dating from the 1920s to the 1960s. His compositions evoke scenes filled with nostalgia, offering a poetic counterpoint to the fast-paced urban environment. He often incorporates painted transparencies over printed material, creating a delicate balance between retro figuration and graphic abstraction.
Highly active in the street art scene, FKDL has exhibited in France and internationally (New York, Berlin, Brussels, and more), and is a frequent participant in urban art festivals. His work is praised for its poetic sensibility and commitment to making art that is open, accessible, and constantly evolving.
