/// Biography of JANA & JS ///

Jana & JS (Jana & Jean-Sébastien Philippe - Austrian / French) have been forming a couple of artists since 2006, inscribing their work both in urban space and on different types of media dedicated to exhibitions.
They compose their paintings of cityscapes, architectural details and characters whose attitudes and expressions are inspired by the places where they are painted. The work of jana & js tends to be integrated as much as possible into the places of their interventions. They constantly seek to create a relationship between their painting and the environment in which it is inscribed. It is in this sense that they have been leading for several years a search for new supports for their creations, sometimes even outside the urban space (tree trunk, railway track, stones, ...).
They use the stencil as the basis of their work but over time have enriched it with other techniques that give them more freedom.
Passionate about photography, their pictorial work is based exclusively on their photographic research. It wants to be personal, a reflection of what surrounds them, touches them and of which they are witnesses. It feeds on their meetings, their travels, their daily life ...
After their meeting in Madrid in 2014 where they lived, a few years spent in Paris, they are now settled in Laufen, a small German town on the Austrian border.
